Chain of Command

The term "Chain of Command" refers to department supervisors and administration who can support you with any questions or inquiries you may have in regards to the department.

A Senior Firefighter is the beginning of the Chain of Command. If a Firefighter has an issue with a member of the Chain of Command, that Firefighter may contact the next highest in the Chain of Command.

Under normal circumstances, Firefighters will not immediately contact Department Administration or Department Heads

All SAFR Personnel are expected to follow lawful orders and directives given from Personnel more senior to them. Senior Firefighter and above are authorized to assign directives and orders to SAFR Personnel. Their authority is delegated directly from the Commissioner.

Failure to abide by the directives assigned by Personnel holding the rank of Senior Firefighter and above will be considered to having failed to follow the orders of the Commissioner and be punished accordingly.
