Promotion Information

Promotions within SAFR are based on competency, attitude, time and activity

Promotions may also be achieved through excelling at tasks that have been assigned to them in the department, alongside commendations for exemplary work from the general public

Promotions are held biweekly, the middle of the month has promotions held for junior ranks (Probationary Firefighter -> Firefighter II) of SAFR while the last week of the month has promotions held for every rank in the department.

SAFR Personnel that have been subject to disciplinary action may be ineligible for promotion. This shall be dependent on the severity and the reason for the disciplinary action taken, and shall be discussed by SAFR Department Administration

Engineers must complete the Lieutenant Exam to become eligible for the promotion to Lieutenant.

This exam shall be reviewed by the SAFR District Chief for the division that the Engineer resides in. Feedback may be received after the monthly promotions.
